At a border inspection near Zwartemeer German police arrested a 36- year old man from the Dutch city of Almelo and a 31 your old woman from Hengelo on monday night. The two had a Kalashnikov assault rifle and ammunition with them, German police announced on monday. There is speculation about at least one of the suspects being a sympathizer of the terrorist movement PKK.
German police saw a BMW X3 drive on the A37 highway around 2.00 am near the border crossing of Schöninghsdorf. The car driving from the Netherlands towards Germany was pulled over by German security forces.
Agents found a backpack containing a Kalashnikov and a large amount of ammunition in a military camouflaged backpack. The two suspects told police they were not aware of the Kalashnikov in their vehicle. German police did not suspect the two were on their way to the G20 summit in Hamburg.
